http://www.dsimarketingsolutions.com/did-i-really-just-tweet-how-can-twitter-help-my-business#respondTue, 10 May 2011 15:57:39 +0000http://www.dsimarketingsolutions.com/wpdsi/?p=28“What is this Twitter thing all about?” “Every time I go to twitter, I see all these different @ and # sybmols. What do those mean?” Bottom line is Twitter, like most things in life, is easy once you understand it. The @ symbols refer to using direct messages. Think of it as an email. When someone types @dsimarketing it basically sends a message out to us, that we can then reply with an @username message back to. The little “#” tags that you see are called hash tags. Think of these as keywords to your tweets. Sofor example if you are let’s say a restuarant, and you are having a special over the weekend of a free appetizer with purchase of two entrees, you could post something like #freeentrees at joe’s rib emporium in #Venice #Florida for this #weekend only. This would allow when people search for key terms of free entres, Venice, Florida, or weekend all to see your tweet. Considering that Twitter has some 70 million users this can be a powerful tool for your business. Once you have people that follow you, they can then “retweet” your messages and it will show to all of their friends. There is a setting that allows you to tweet with your location to make it easier for users to find you. This is a great idea if your business has a particular region that it caters to. We will write more about twitter in future posts.

http://www.dsimarketingsolutions.com/does-my-business-need-to-be-on-facebook#respondWed, 20 Apr 2011 06:48:57 +0000http://www.dsimarketingsolutions.com/wpdsi/?p=25While conversing with clients another topic that comes up quite frankly nearly every time, is the “does my business need to be on Facebook?” 99.9% of the time the answer is yes. If someone offered your business a FREE billboard on the side of the road, even if it isn’t the main highway in your town wouldn’t you take it? Of course you would. As of the time of this posting there are 150 million Americans on Facebook. And I would bet to guess that even if your competitors aren’t they are soon to be. One of the great recent changes in Facebook…is that fact that you no longer have to have a personal profile to start a business page. All you need now is an email address. Facebook is a great platform, and now seems to be the 900 lb gorilla in every room that we step in, and you can’t seem to escape it on TV, on billboards, radio, and everywhere else that we turn. Truth is it is a great way to communicate with existing customers, as well as reach out to new customers, or even better yet have your customers tell their friends about how wonderful your business is, all for FREE. We offer consulting on various aspects of Facebook, what is necessary, what isn’t and how to utilize every aspect of the social media giant. But first step is you much create a page, not a profile. Has your business done so yet?

http://www.dsimarketingsolutions.com/make-my-business-number-one-on-google#respondFri, 15 Apr 2011 15:48:30 +0000http://www.dsimarketingsolutions.com/wpdsi/?p=23Nearly every company that we consult with when we first sit down states “I want to be number one on Google”. Our reply is always “Who doesn’t?” I mean what good is a website, if no one finds it. The old adage if a tree falls in the woods, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound saying comes to mind? Truth is there are only so many number one spots on Google. However don’t get discouraged, there is some good news, there are ways to get your company found and even compete with some of the big boys that have the million dollar marketing budgets, that most of our clients don’t have. Google has recently pushed it’s Google Places, and allow today’s medium to small businesses to compete in such a valuable area of internet real estate, the SERP’s (Search Engine Results Page). Fact is most businesses haven’t even claimed their FREE Google Places listing. Google places allows business to specify things such as categories, web address, phone numbers, and even track impressions as well one’s clicks to their website or even driving directions. While these listings are FREE it is recommended that you consult with a professional to make sure that you are maximizing all that you can out of this listing. Bottom line is, if you are in business and haven’t claimed your listing yet, you need to do so now. Have you claimed your business listing?
